String Pocket – artek grey

Designed by Nils Strinning in 1949 (with an often unacknowledged contribution from his wife, Kajsa), the String Pocket – artek grey is the smallest or starter unit in the String artillery of shelving systems. It can be used very effectively in isolation or it can be combined with more String Pockets to make increasingly complex shelving configurations. Alternatively, you can upgrade to the matching and awesomely versatile String Modular Shelving system with its huge range of different components.

What you get – two grey side panels for wall hanging and three grey shelves with stainless steel shelf bearing brackets in a single flat pack. When assembled your String Pocket – artek grey is 50 cm high, 60 cm wide and 15 cm deep.

Timeless and unpretentious, it is made of powder coated steel and wood and was awarded a gold medal at the prestigious Milan Trienniel in 1954 for its successful marriage of form and function, a key objective of the modern Scandinavian style. It is still made in Sweden.
