& Tradition Bellevue AJ9 Wall Lamp
The Bellevue Wall Light is part of &tradition’s Bellevue family of coordinated lamps. It was designed in 1929 by Arne Jacobsen who was inspired by the Bauhaus movement and the possibilities created by the then new technology making affordable, high quality tubular steel.
With a strong steel frame and three metres of fabric cord, what is really striking about this iconic lamp is the 45 degree cut shade made of lacquered aluminium. Not only does this look cool – it directs light downwards while avoiding excessive glare. This is perfect for reading or browsing on a tablet or ipad. Jacobsen himself was so enamoured of the design it reappeared over and over again in his work – most famously in his Bellevue petrol station. The simple goose-neck frame and clean, sturdy construction reflects the modernist ambitions of Le Corbusier and his contemporaries – ignoring the vagaries of fashion and pursuing instead the higher values of style and design.
Available in black or white. The interiors of both colours of shade are a reflective powder-painted white. There is an on/off switch on the wall mount.
